My Tree Bark drawings were originally included in my Field Notes exhibition, inspired by observations of forest, mountain, and waterway trails in the Pacific Northwest. The drawings are a study in varied mark making in order to abstract the distinct characteristics of the bark of specific trees. When viewed from a distance, one can recognize these distinct characteristics of bark. However, on close inspection, micro worlds within the bark come to life in natural and universal patterns and design.
